LONDON: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Ukraine – Russia peace summit will be postponed until after the coronavirus pandemic.

Zelensky said negotiations will resume as soon as the coronavirus pandemic subsides and he hopes to hold a meeting with with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Because of the coronavirus, all countries are dealing with their own problems. It is complicated but we have discussed it with Germany and France and everybody agrees to have a meeting of the Normandy format as soon as the pandemic has subsided.” Zelensky said at a press conference.

Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France held a summit to end the conflict in Ukraine last December in Paris.

The was to be followed by next meeting in the four-way “Normandy Format” after four months, which has now been halted.

Ukraine exchanged prisoners ahead of Easter celebrations with separatists in the war-torn east of the country.
